Artist Statement

KATHLEEN BYRNES  

Seeing the illumination of a beach grass or the shadows from a fire escape compel me to get out my paints and magnify the color or strength of that line. Too try to express the blurring fog or relentless sun is the challenge that inspires me. Each time I stand before a canvas it is a test of my ability to capture the succinct mark, the controlled expression, while allowing myself to reach that break from the surrounding noise, so the paint and brush and canvas dance and move the viewer with me.
